We love living, working, and raising a family in Leland, NC. We’re especially thankful during the Holidays when the community comes together to put on some fun and meaningful events to foster friendships, entertainment and community.

Here are some of our Favorite Leland NC area holiday events you and the family don’t want to miss.

Shallotte NC Holiday Market

Nov 21, 2015 – Nov 21, 2015, 9am – 1pm Riverside Park, Shallotte

You can celebrate both Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons at the Holiday Market. Local farmers will have a variety of their winter crops available, area artisans will share their talents. Vendors include everything from handmade jewelry, goat’s milk soap, crocheted items, Army/Navy gear, fishing tackle and Tastefully Simple to handmade pottery, painted snowmen gourds and much more. There will be tasty pecan pie tarts and other baked goods available just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Come start your holiday shopping at Riverside Park. More than 20 vendors will be on hand for the Holiday Market.

Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla

Nov 28, 2015 – Nov 28, 2015, 5:30pm Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte Point Free

The 12th Annual Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla is just around the corner. The boat parade starts at dusk in front of the Inlet View Bar & Grill. You will find the best viewing spots between there and the ending point in the commercial canal in front of Sharky’s Restaurant. The judging will be done at Sharky’s after which there will be a great party with live music from Bailout Band and an auction for many exciting prizes, including Jimmy Buffet concert tickets.

Dec 4-5, 2015, Friday at 5:30 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm 4601 E. Oak Island Drive , Oak Island, NC 28465 Free

Festivities begin on Friday with the Annual Oak Island Holiday Tree Lighting at 6:00pm, with live entertainment and special guests starting at 5:30pm.

The “Christmas by the Sea Parade” travels 2.4 miles from Oak Island Town Hall, traveling Oak Island Drive to McGlamery Street. The parade begins at 2pm on Saturday and showcases the businesses and organizations in our community exuding holiday spirit. The hometown feel of the parade makes it a favorite for everyone.

December 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th:

  • Christmas in Song – Christmas at the Amuzu, 111 N Howe Street, $18

December 9th:

  • Annual Cookie Contest – Southport Community Building, 223 E Bay Street from 3pm – 6pm

  • Supper with Santa’s Elves – 209 Atlantic Ave from 5pm – 7pm, $5 per child

December 10th:

  • Christmas in Song – Christmas at the Amuzu, 111 N Howe Street, $18

  • Christmas Movie – “Polar Express” at the Fort Johnston Garrison Lawn from 5:30pm – 8pm, Free

December 11th:

  • Costumed Tour at the NC Maritime Museum at Southport, 204 E Moore Street at 3pm

  • Light Up the Night Christmas Fire Engine Parade along Waterfront Park and down Howe Street to the Southport Fire Station, starting at 5:30pm, and after the parade, visit with Santa and refreshments at the Fire Station

December 12th:

  • Christmas in Song – Christmas at the Amuzu, 111 N Howe Street, $18

  • Winter Craft Festival – Fort Johnston Garrison Lawn from 9am – 4pm, all handmade, homegrown items

  • Santa’s Workshop – 209 Atlantic Ave from 10:30am – 12pm

  • Old Brunswick County Jail Tours – corner of Nash and Rhett Streets from 2pm – 7pm

  • Christmas Tour of Homes from 2pm – 7pm, tickets and maps available at Fort Johnston Southport Museum Store, $10 in advance

  • Southport Christmas Flotilla – Southport waterfront from the Yacht Basin to Kingsley Park around 7pm

Dec 12, 2015 – 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Leland Town Hall Park Free

The Leland, NC Christmas parade takes place from 10am-noon, and will follow Village Road from the First Baptist Church to the BB&T entrance way (beside CITGO). Immediately following the Christmas parade, join your neighbors for food, dance troupe performances, vendors, music and lots of entertainment at the Leland NC Christmas Festival until 4:30 p.m.
