You can set your lights to turn on and off when various things happen. For instance, you can set the lights to dim when you settle in to watch a movie. (It’s best to say, “Abracadabra” or “Lights, Jeeves,” or something similar when this happens, so everyone knows it’s magic.)
Set lighting rules for:
Voice control: You can set a magic word to dim or brighten the lights.
Turn lights on in a series: Set lights to come on as a family member walks down a hall, before they get to a room.
Turn lights off remotely: Use your smartphone to turn lights out when it’s time for the kids to go to bed.

If you’re tired of losing your keys and don’t want to wait for the plumber, set the doors to lock and unlock by themselves. You can also lock a door with a tap on your phone app. This is also handy for:

Teach Your Dumb Things to Be Smart
Each connected object can work together. This really impresses family and friends. Again, for full effect, practice regal or magical commands to go along with your party tricks.
Wake up smart: Set the lights to slowly brighten as you awake, and set this to trigger the coffeemaker (“Wake up and smell the coffee!”).
Come home smart: Turn the stereo and the slow cooker on as the front door unlocks (“Music, Maestro!”).
Get homework started: Turn the desk lamps on and the TV off when the kids get home from school. (When they complain, feign surprise.)
